This somewhat isolated page is waiting for the new photos of the 05-06 ice towers, when more water freezes in the far frozen north.

13 March 2005 through 20 July. With the Melt Down...

First, the collapse, then the melt down...

10:45 PM, 13 March. The outhouse survived.

It came down at 10.45 PM, 13 March, precisely. Residents in the area thought it was an earthquake. Italians in the town of Pizza cheered. It went straight down, with debris completely around the base. None of this tipping over stuff. Rumor has it that the guy in Austria was the most successful in regard to the guess of the final height, and apparently impressively successful, and another rumor is still floating in regard to the recent interest in the moment of the collapse. There is a larger chunk of solid ice at the base, than last year, to entertain those speculating on when the last ice will melt. Mysteriously, ravens were flying around the ice rubble in the morning, acting strangely. Predictably, the ice artist is discussing bigger things for next year, and there may yet be things of interest this year. Yeah, we added some yellow dye on a couple blocks of ice, for fun. There are three blinking lights down in there somewhere, or a flattened glow frozen in the ice. Photos were taken the next day. Got my rappel webbing back, but it was a bit too stressed to use again.

Now just imagine if you had been sitting in that outhouse, with the door open.

And there we jolly well have it.

The summer melt is next, with much guessing as to precisely the day and minute of the last crystal of ice.

The designing and preparation for next year's tower and other ice things are already underway.

Hey, the web servant is back from his adventure trip into the bowels of middle America. He escaped, with camera....

The Melt Down......

12 June 2005, still a large chunk of ice bewildering the passing tourists.

21 June

The big golf ball is going up next to the ice. Yes, the resulting project will be most interesting.

Some of the guesses about the dome project are bigger than the dome.

It was previously a radar dome for the Nike Missile Defense System that was part of the arms race that bankrupted the Soviets before the same pursuit of fools will inherently bankrupt the US taxpayers and the paper dollar illusion. Instead of ground based radar and Nike missiles, Alaska now has satellites overhead and an increasing number of poorly designed nuclear missile silos (some in ice). Keep paying your taxes for the Bush ego tripster, like his predecessors and DemocanRepublicrat successors who are laughably clueless of the inherent collapse point of paper money printed for government budgets rather than private production of socially useful products and services. Consider holding a reserve of gold and silver, and the guns to protect it from the federal government thugs whose power-damaged minds cannot possibly be satisfied with only the guns, bombs and weapons of mass destruction they currently hold, much to the amusement of observers.

5 July

Some folks have already missed their guess on the day the last ice will melt. The launch tower was left in place.

12 July

With the stakes rumored to be higher than last year, the ice is being watched more carefully by more people. We therefore posted our initial guard on the ice. If he lifts his foot, the security system is activated.

19 July

Total Melt is closing in.

On account of what is riding on the exact Melt Minute we got 5 watch gulls, 4 vicious dogs, a few volunteers armed in the woods behind the ice, plus a couple official judges sitting on the nearby deck with shotguns, cigars and whisky, all watching real close.

20 July 2005, 1:11 PM. The last ice crystal melted.

The judges were huddled around. Observers were watching. And not one camera in the whole lot of them. They each thought the other guy would have a camera. Typical Alaskans. The word went out by cell phone. There was rumor of large bank transactions. The camera showed up too late.

The production for this coming winter is already in process.

And there we jolly well have it.
